Centered on fostering a culture of authenticity, imagination, creativity, and community, Improv School Redlands seeks not only to teach the art of improv, but to create a vibrant community where all are welcomed, seen, heard, and valued.
Our Values & Code of Conduct
At Improv School Redlands, we are committed to fostering a supportive & inclusive environment where every individual is valued & respected. Our code of conduct reflects our dedication to providing a space where creativity thrives & all participants feel safe to express themselves authentically. By joining our community classes & events, you agree to adhere to the following principles:
- Respect & Dignity: Treat every member of our community with respect, dignity, & kindness. Embrace the diversity of experiences, perspectives, & identities by “liking”, “caring”, & “knowing” each other.
- Zero Tolerance for Discrimination: Discrimination, harassment, bullying, or any form of intolerance based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ability, or any other characteristic will not be tolerated.
- Open-Mindedness & Acceptance: Approach interactions with an open mind & a willingness to listen to & learn from others. Embrace uncertainty & cherish the process of collaboration, exploration, & discovery.
- Constructive Communication: Engage in constructive communication that fosters understanding & empathy. Practice active listening & thoughtful response, while being mindful of the impact of your words & actions on others.
- Safety & Well-being: Prioritize the safety & well-being of all participants. Refrain from engaging in behavior that could physically, emotionally, or mentally harm others.
- Inclusive Participation: Ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate & contribute. Be mindful of inclusivity in your interactions, language, attitudes, & behavior.
- Conflict Resolution: Resolve conflicts or disagreements peacefully & respectfully. Seek assistance from instructors or staff if needed. Approach conflicts with a mindset of finding mutually beneficial solutions.
- Professionalism: Maintain professionalism in all interactions within the school environment. Uphold these values both inside & outside of Improv School Redlands activities.
- Continuous Growth and Learning: Embrace a growth mindset & seek opportunities for personal & artistic development. Engage in ongoing learning & self-reflection to enhance your understanding of your art & yourself.
- Accountability and Consequences: Accept responsibility for your actions & the impact they may have on others. Violations of this code of conduct may result in disciplinary action, up to & including removal from Improv School Redlands activities.
- Responsible use of A.I.: We recognize AI tools may be helpful & even necessary for accessibility. However, To protect the human creativity at the heart of our community, refrain from using generative AI to create images, artwork, flyers, stand-up sets, sketches, scripts, or any core creative material. Acceptable use may include non-creative tasks like organization, drafting emails, proofreading, summarizing notes, or research. When in doubt, let’s have a discussion.
